The 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL is an iconic full-size American cruiser celebrated for its sleek space-age styling , luxurious bucket-seat interior , and high-performance V8 engine .
This immaculate example was purchased directly from its only American owner , a Sherriff from Sevierville, Tennessee where it was first registered . We still have the licence plates.. It was then imported and correctly registered in 2018 by its only UK-custodian .
Superbly restored and finished in the glorious factory shade of Rangoon Red with a black vinyl interior, the quality of paint is exceptional .
The 390ci engine has been rebuilt with mild cams and a Flow Master exhaust to enhance that distinctive V8 ‘burble’ . Starts on the button and performs impeccably ..
The car underwent with a full front disc brake conversion with the addition of a chrome servo unit .. it now stops sharply..
Fitted with period American Racing alloy wheels with Cooper Cobra tyres.
Originality was clearly at the forefront of the restoration, with the eight-track player still in place and its original jack stowed correctly .
A comprehensive history folder including factory specification sheet, original handbook, restoration invoices and numerous items of associated paperwork comes with the car … rare on a Yank..
This car is in outstanding condition throughout and difficult to criticise in any way.. The photos do not do it justice… I’ve been selling these cars for years, and this really is one of the very best ..
