1926 Morris Oxford ‘Bullnose’ Doctors Coupe.
With the larger 1,802cc Oxford engine, this is a practical and capable Vintage tourer.
Being a genuine and rare Doctors Coupe the car features proper wind up windows rather than sidescreens.
An older restoration, there are some paintwork issues, notably on the scuttle and dickey seat lid. However, the car has a pleasing patina and is eminently usable as it is.
The black everflex hood is in good order while the black leather seat is very comfortable and is in excellent condition.
Once the various controls are mastered the engine starts readily, the magneto having been overhauled recently. Oil pressure is good and a period SU carburetter is now fitted which works a lot better than the original Smiths five jet.
We sold this car just over a year ago and since then many improvements have been made including the fitment of a new set of Blockley tyres and tubes, a complete re-wire, new exhaust system, new brushes in the Dynastart, new spring bushes and pins, new running boards, new brake rods and new wheel bearings. Additionally, the engine, gearbox and back axle have all been checked over.
The Barker headlamp dipping mechanism has been reinstated and the shock absorbers have been replaced with some from a Rolls Royce Phantom II, suitably adjusted.
On test the Oxford drove well. The gearbox is easy to use and the brakes pull the car up square.
The accompanying file includes handbooks, ownership history and lots of photos of the all the recent work done to the car.
Well served by the Bullnose Morris Club and Morris Register, the Oxford makes an ideal introduction to Vintage motoring with its robust and simple mechanicals and for a very affordable price.
Overall a charming and easy to live with Vintage car.
We would happily take a classic vehicle in part exchange.
A video of the car can be viewed on the St Andrews Autos YouTube channel.
